RELIGION.
RELIGION has been a full time occupation and the
main source of income of some persons in the district. Of such
persons, the most numerous are the priests and ministers of religion
and religious mendicants. Then there are those engaged in temples,
and burial and burning ghats, inmates of monasteries; catechists,
readers in churches and those in missionary services are also
included. The number occupied in this profession decreased between
the years 1911 and 1931. The following table shows the figures at
the various censuses after 1911:-
